Ever find it interesting how certain things evoke memories and emotions? For instance, when a certain song comes on the radio, it immediately changes my mood. Either I’m totally not in the mood for it and it makes me angry that the radio even plays such stupid music, makes me wanna get my groove on, mellows me out or makes me feel like I could be a total bad ass. Maybe I even picture myself getting away with a heist. Movies do the same thing; they transfer you into a whole different world. Colors are another that evoke certain thoughts and feelings. There is such a things color theory and it’s been studied over and over again. Hospitals have specific colors to help sooth their patients, hotels do the same thing and so do shopping stores. Gap, Banana Republic, Scheels, American Eagle, even Starbucks.. they have specific smells, colors, and music that cater to the mood they want their clients to feel. It’s their own personality that they want to share with everyone. A brand can’t really be a specific person, so how else do business make it work? Well, they find role models, a spokes person (or more), music, smell, scent.. they work to make an intangible thing a real energy, memory, thought and feeling.
I made this graphic with certain colors, relating to images that help capture those colors. How do they make you feel? Do they represent the color well? Do the colors represent the emotions in the picture?
